A New York City publication sends a correspondent named Crayne to get the story of the killer known as the Jack of Justice, who is leaving a trail of calling cards and bodies across the rugged Wyoming hills. Crayne finds that the real story is darker than anything he expected, and that his role in the tale may be to bring it to a sudden end. He soon finds himself riding with the outlaw instead of writing about him. When the outlaw attempts one showdown too many, Crayne is left to face a powerful network of men who want to silence him before he can tell the story.
