Little Mole is sad, so his mother teaches him about hope by leading the way out of their dark burrow into a bright world filled with the promise of spring.
While Little Mole is bringing home a beautiful mushroom as a Christmas gift for his mother, he encounters woodland friends in need and shares the mushroom with them.
It is the first day at Woodland School and little Mole is worried because he does not have Hare's ears or Squirrel's sharp eyesight--but when he and his friends are trapped in a collapsed tunnel it is little Mole who knows what to do.
